Leo is four months old!

Leo is four months old! He is becoming so much more aware of the world around him. He started to giggle and laugh in the past few days. He especially loves our nightly dance parties, which I do right before bed to tire him out. I am exposing him to lots of different music, but so far his favorite is Journey. He is past the snuggly sleeping-anywhere-and-on-anyone phase, but he has exchanged it for the ability to engage with us through smiles and babbling. He is constantly smiling and drooling and blowing raspberries, his lastest trick. People always comment on Leo's long eyelashes, and because of that, they often think he's a girl! I am quick to tell them that he inherited this trait from his dad. He hasn't rolled over yet. His back is getting strong - he's able to lift his head high when lying on his tummy and arches his back when he wants us to pick him up when he's lying down or seated. He can sit up on his own for a few seconds before toppling over. Mostly, though, he loves to stand and bounce on one or both legs. Leo continues to be a great sleeper at night, and can sleep for about 9 or 10 hours before he wakes up to eat.

Here are some photos of him on his chair (see his other monthly photos to compare) which is soon to be replaced with a crib as he is growing too big for the co-sleeper next to our bed. (He sleeps so well right next to us, I'm dreading the transition to the crib!) We started out the day by going to the doctor for Leo's four month checkup. He weighs 16 lbs 1 oz, which means he has dropped from the 90th percentile to the 75th percentile. But he's 26 inches long, which means he grew from the 75th percentile to the 90th! We are growing a chubby string bean! He got his next round of shots, which seemed much less traumatic for him than at his 2-month appointment. It was another beautiful day, so we had a picnic in the park by our house and then went for a run by the ballpark. When we got home, Leo got a Valentine in the mail from his great-Nana Ev!
