Serious Swinging
Leo went in a swing at the playground for the first time today. I love how he seems to be taking it so seriously! There were plenty of squeals of delight off camera.

My little catnapper
Here he is smiling up at me after taking a 20 minute nap, and again after falling asleep on our 10 minute walk home from yoga. How can I be upset when he's this cute and happy on so little sleep?

Leos at lunch
We met another baby Leo last week. He's about 2 weeks older. We had a little get-together today over Thai food!

Kisses (sort of)
Leo is really into gnawing on our chins whenever we pick him up. I'd like to think he's trying to give us kisses!

Solid Food Attempt #1: Failure
Leo has been reaching for food and drinks a lot recently, so we decided it was time for him to try solid food (or really, mushy banana).

Living large
This kid loves to stretch out in his new crib! Last night he somehow ended up perpendicular after winding his legs between the slats. Sorry it's out of focus but I took this in the dark.

Same shirt, next generation
This is a shot of my parents with me when I was born. I inherited my dad's now paint-spattered t-shirt when I was in high school. It is so soft and it reminds me of all the times he worked on our house in it. I wore the shirt this weekend when we moved and assembled some furniture. Also, I love how you can see a big drool patch on my dad's shoulder in the picture - I would have never noticed that before I became a parent!

Doula reunion
Today we met up with our doula Sarah and our friends Rachel and Laela and their baby Nathaniel (Sarah assisted with Natty's birth too). It was so great for Sarah to get to see the boys now that they are so much bigger!

Leo is Five Months Old!
Leo is five months old! His physical developments have been coming fast and furious, especially in the past week. Leo loves to stand up. He can stand unsupported but needs spotting for balance. He can almost sit up on his own, and sits for about ten seconds and can reach forward and grab toys from out in front of him (I never appreciated how much muscle coordination that takes until I watched him try it over and over). He can grab his feet and, as of a few days ago, he can roll over from his tummy to his back. However, when put on his tummy, he usually just kicks furiously, holds his head up for a few seconds, and gets frustrated and starts to cry.
Last month I wrote that Leo started to laugh but now his laughs are full-on giggles. He is a really smiley guy, though it's hard to capture in pictures. He also loves to babble, blow raspberries, and respond to us when we talk. When I put him on my lap to read him a book, Leo paws at the pages and talks along with me. When he is in my arms, he looks out at the world with wide eyes and a half-open mouth. He really seems to be taking it all in! He is a sweet, good-natured boy and we feel so lucky to have such a great, happy, physical baby.
